The COVID-19 pandemic sped up how much people in the United States use electronic payments. To avoid touching things and spreading the virus, more folks started using digital ways to pay.

Online shopping and paying with phones became super popular. Businesses also changed to encourage paying without cash to keep things clean. The pandemic basically made everyone like using electronic payments because they're easy and safe.
