❌ SCAM Appstarreviews Scam Work Site: Victims Convinced To Buy Credits With Crypto

Scam flagged website/app or resource
attachment

Appstarreviews is a scam crypto work platform that claims to reward users in return for performing ‘review’ tasks, but actually steals their funds.
Victims are usually approached through social media and offered so-called part-time working opportunities which involve signing up to Appstarreviews.
They’re given ‘credits’ to start with which enable them to carry out review tasks, such as leaving star ratings or cutting and pasting pre-written reviews on travel websites.
Each time they perform a task they’re rewarded with crypto, but they also use up some of their credits.
Once the credits are exhausted, they are urged to buy more to enable them to continue ‘working’.
If they spend more, they’ll unlock access to ‘higher paying working opportunities’. But, like the other tasks, these aren’t real.
As soon as a victim has deposited a significant sum, the scammers block their account and disappear with their cash and crypto.
Appstarreviews is one of many similar scam platforms and will only be around for a few months before it’s shuttered. New sites spring up daily.
Telltale signs that Appstarreviews is a scam site
There are many things that make it obvious that Appstarreviews is a scam site.
Red flags include:
  • A very new domain name that’s been registered for a short period of time.
  • No positive reviews online.
  • No apps or social media channels connected with the site.
  • Unrealistic returns for performing automated tasks.
  • The requirement to convert cash to crypto in order to buy ‘credits’.
  • Poor use of English, and very little content on the platform.
  • Appstarreviews follows the same pattern as many other scam sites that are conning people in a similar way.
The name used by the scammers is fairly generic in this case, but other fake platforms are attempting to associate themselves with legitimate travel sites such as Tripadvisor.
I’ve been scammed by Appstarreviews, what next?
The first thing people ask if they’ve been scammed is ‘can I get my money back?’.
In most cases the answer is no. However, there are private companies that might be able to help which I’ve written about here.
