The person who contacted me about the Wintersnowx fake Forex brokers scam claims to have lost $120,000 – the largest single loss I’ve heard about so far.
As with so many other scam websites, the crooks use honeytrap techniques to lure investors into trusting them before encouraging them to invest in an exciting crypto platform.
They contact unsuspecting victims through dating websites and social media platforms, such as Tinder and Telegram, before pretending to strike up a romantic relationship with the victims.
According to the victim who contacted me, things were going well with the ‘lady’ he’d met until a couple of weeks later when she mentioned an investment site she was involved with.
She promised huge returns and claimed that lots of people she knew were reaping the rewards.
Perhaps not wanting to call his new beau’s honesty into question, the victim opened a Wintersnowx account as instructed and began transferring large sums of money into it.
Wintersnowx Forex brokers is 100% a scam site and you should not invest any money with it or any other site with a similar name. Also, do invest in any platform that’s been recommended to you by someone you’ve recently met online. Account Soared In Value With Fake Profits
It wasn’t long before he saw his alleged profits sore until his account balance eventually reached $670,000.
He decided to withdraw some cash but was told he need to pay a commission in order to release the funds. This was to be paid on both his initial deposit and the profit.
Of course the profit didn’t exist, and it was simply a way for the scammers to try to extract more money from the victim.
This demand for further funds is a common tactic in many different crypto scams and there are variants on this theme.
Sometimes the scammers claim that victims need to pay a tax instead of a commission, but again it’s simply a way to try and fleece more funds out of them.
How to tell Wintersnowx is a scam site
The profits that were promised were unrealistically high.
The site, which is no longer working, is a duplicate of another crypto scam website – Wintersnowfx which has also been shut down.
There are probably many variants of the name out there so be extremely careful when investing any money, especially if a site has been recommended by someone you barely know and have never met in real life.
Losing $120k is a bitter pill to swallow and it’s yet another reminder of the importance of thoroughly researching any website you’re planning to use, especially if it’s claiming to be a legitimate financial institution.
Check out review sites, look at the history of the page you’re visiting and consider why this person that you’ve only recently met is so quick to direct you towards investing.
The promise of impossible profits should set alarm bells ringing and you should be wary of any platform or individual claiming to be able to deliver this.
