What are the bad effects of gambling on adults?

Although gambling can be a form of entertainment at first, many adults are trapped in the cycle of addiction without even realizing it, at times when it penetrates the very depth of their lives, leaving them with negative bank balances that they are not able to repay and they get into debt as the losses mount and the yearning for win is the only thought that dissolves all other priorities, thus people faced with such a situation are in a bind and usually do not have any plan for recovery; because of the finances' stress the gambler can feel anxiety that quickly turns into sleepless nights and he or she often gets physical ailments (headaches or stomach upset) and the frequency of mood swings and disappointment can be detrimental to the mental health leading to depression, a bad mood, and even suicidal thoughts when the losses go beyond the bearable; the relationship between the representatives of the institution suffers as the trust disappears, the partners feel they are neglected or lied to regarding the extent of the addiction issue, and the atmosphere at the family events becomes abnormal when the money questions start taking over; the work of the person is usually hardly done due to the fact that the gambling person is in the office 24/7, counting, calculating, and checking the results, while sometimes the options include entering into the agreement with the lender! missing the deadlines of the projects, disobeying the requirements, or losing the job, and the person's self-worth can be lessened by the pressure that is put on him or her, and the thought of more gambling will still be there, leading him or her to it as an escape; it may happen that one faces the legal consequences when ill-starred people go as far as to commit fraud or theft to replace their loss, in addition to the fact that the legal troubles only make the case of the problem at hand worse and they experience again the feeling of guilt; besides, they tend to hide their behavior from friends and this social isolation developed for the purpose of escaping judgment only to meet the opposite results of not being able to seek help from support groups, or the help of a therapist; all in all, more than just empty pockets, the injury that these people are causing is far-reaching to their physical health, emotional well-being, personal relationships, and community reliance; thus, gambling is a silent killer that wreaks havoc on individuals' lives and can only be cured with truth, backing, and expert intervention.
