Tpwworldwide – or TPW Exchange as it’s also known – is a scam crypto trading platform that is probably linked to the fake FATF5 exchange.
I’ve been contacted by someone who’s lost in excess of $50,000 dollars to the scam, through both an initial investment and follow-up demands by the scammers.
They were contacted via social media by someone who it later turned out was using a fake profile. They befriended them before introducing them to ‘sure fire’ crypto investment.
The victim was encouraged to send the USDT stablecoin to ‘invest’ on the platform after buying the crypto through Binance.
Initially it appeared that they were making huge profits, but when they tried to withdraw their money from their account, they found that it was locked.
The scammers then demanded large payments to release the cash, claiming it was needed to pay fees and taxes.
These are completely fake, and the tactic is commonly used by those involved in running pig butchering crypto scams.
The victim had unfortunately taken loans from friends and family to pay the ‘fees’ and was left completely broke by the scammers.
How to tell Tpwworldwide is scam
The Tpwworldwide website is a classic example of the type of design and layout used by scammers across the board.
It’s a cookie cutter design that’s been used for many other scam crypto platforms, and the functionality is extremely limited.
These are a few of the giveaways:
- The design is very basic and not typical of a legitimate crypto exchange.
- There is no information about the company operating the platform or the people involved.
- The domain name was registered very recently.
- The registrant’s details have been deliberately hidden.
- There are no social media profiles connected to the site.
- A few of the links go to rudimentary internal pages while others lead nowhere.
- No helpdesk info or live chat is present.
Can I get my money back from Tpwworldwide or other crypto scams?
It can be very difficult to get your money back from crypto scammers, but authorities have had some success so it’s always best to report your case to them.
The police may have a specific cyber and crypto crime unit depending on your country of origin.
There are also specialised companies that might be a be help which I’ve written about here.
