Sobtcheo is a crypto trading scam that’s operating as a classic pig butchering scheme.
Victims are ‘fattened up’ after being approached at random online and persuaded to invest in crypto through a fake platform.
Once the victim has sent a significant sum their account is blocked and their money is lost, but not before the scammers have tried to extract more money by claiming that a fee, commission or tax needs to be paid to release the cash.
The Sobtcheo site – or simply Solana as it calls itself on the page tab – is one of dozens of sites that are set up for a few months before being shut down when enough victims have fallen for the scam.
Spotting the Sobtcheo scam
It’s quite easy to spot that this is a scam website for a number of reasons.
They include:
- Poor design with pixelated images and grammatically incorrect text.
- A lack of information about the company or the people behind the platform.
- A very new domain name which will become defunct within a few months.
- No online reviews or comments about the platform by users.
- Many traits that are commonly found on scam sites are present here.
- A lack of regulatory information or disclaimers.
- A very low Domain Authority (DA) ranking implying little inbound traffic.
- Promises of very high ‘guaranteed’ returns over a short space of time.
