Intcrypt is a fake crypto trading app and exchange which promises victims large profits on their investments but later blocks their accounts.
Victims are encouraged to invest in the platform by people they meet online, who then go on to help them transfer funds to the platform, usually in the form of USDT (Tether).
In some instances, ‘traders’ have even claimed to have ‘topped up’ victim’s accounts as an apparent incentive to continue investing, but this is of course fake.
Victims then see their ‘profits’ increase over a period of weeks, during which the ‘trader’ will encourage them to keep investing and making ‘matched investments’ to incentivise further top-ups.
Intcrypt investors blocked from withdrawing funds
However, when the victims come to withdraw their funds, they find that their account is blocked.
One victim, who contacted PawProfitForum Team, said that when they came to withdraw their funds, they were told by the scammers that their review was ‘under review for tax purposes’.
The fraudsters go to great lengths to make the scam appear convincing, even showing victims what appear to be transaction ids for crypto investments.
They also allow some victims to make small withdrawals as a way of convincing them that all is above board, before pressuring them to invest larger sums.
How to tell Intcrypt is a scam
There are multiple issues with this platform, and the way the ‘traders’ are behaving that make it quite clear that Intcrypt is a scam operation.
They include:
- The domain name is very new – a sign that it could be a scam platform, especially as the registrant’s details have been redacted.
- There are no reviews of this platform online – a legitimate site would be talked about and reviewed on various platforms, such as Trustpilot, and social media platforms.
- The logo used is actually stolen from a legitimate, global crypto exchange called crypto.com. Scammers often appropriate the brand of reputable firms to try and add legitimacy to their platform and obfuscate the fact they’re operating a scam.
- There is none of the expected corporate information on the website, such as details about the management team, regulatory information, company registration information or support details.
- Many of the links don’t lead to the action they purport to do, and instead redirect to a sign-up page.
- The exaggerated claim of being ‘The world’s fastest and most secure crypto trading platform’, as illustrated below, is a telltale sign that this is a scam.
- The entire look and feel of the site is amateurish, including poor layout and content and pixelated images. This definitely indicates this isn’t a genuine platform.
- There are no social media channels associated with the platform, or official apps. Legitimate crypto trading companies always have these.
- Namecheap, which was used in this instance, and GoDaddy are two common hosts used by scammers.
Don’t send any money to the site, no matter who encourages you to do so, as it’s completely fake. Also, block anyone who tries to get you to invest in Intcrypt.
Help! I’ve lost money to the Intcrypt scam
If you’ve been caught up in a crypto scam you should always contact the police and/or relevant scam organisations in your country.
It’s extremely difficult to get your money back though, and you should manage your expectations when it comes to the reality of doing so.
However, there are private companies that might be able to help which I’ve written about here.
