Like so many other scam crypto sites, Cryptocurrency Global claims to be ‘the world’s leading digital asset trading platform’.
Scammers often make bold claims about their platforms in an attempt to add legitimacy to them, but a very shallow scratch beneath the surface reveals their true nature.
Cryptocurrency Global is one of the slightly better designed fake crypto and Bitcoin trading platforms and making more understandable as to why people are falling for this con.
How does the Cryptocurrency Global scam work?
Cryptocurrency Global works in the same way as many other crypto scams – an unsuspecting investor is contacted by a social media platform, befriended then urged to invest in a crypto trading scheme.
The victim is promised huge returns over a short space of time and persuaded to convert cash into crypto, often USDT (Tether) stablecoin before transferring it to a platform controlled by the scammers, in this case Cryptocurrency Global.
Fake profits appear in their account, but when they come to withdraw the money, they’re told they need to pay an additional fee to do so.
Often this is a percentage of the initial investment plus fictitious profit and can amount to tens of thousands of dollars, but the scammers simply steal this money as well.
The person who contacted me said they’d lost $75,000 USD to the Cryptocurrency Global con, with the scammers demanding a further $30,000 USD to release their funds.
How can you tell Cryptocurrency Global is a scam?
There are several things that reveal this platform is a scam.
They include:
- The domain name is very new, which doesn’t tally with the bold claims about the platform.
- The bold claims are ridiculous and clearly not true.
- There is very little content on the site. Legitimate platforms have many sections and pages.
- There is no information about the platform’s team or location.
- The links are fake and nearly all of them lead to a login page.
- There are multiple spelling mistakes and grammatical errors on the site – a huge red flag.
- The platform has no social media channels associated with it – something all legitimate platforms have.
- There are multiple scam reports about the platform online which can be found by searching Google.
- The mobile apps which claim to be part of the site do not appear in either the Android or iOS stores. Instead, users are told to scan a QR for a direct download – another huge red flag.
Do not send any cash or cryptocurrency to the platform or anyone claiming to represent it.
Can I get my money back from Cryptocurrency Global?
Recovering your funds from crypto scammers is very difficult and getting your money back can be an uphill struggle.
You should always report what’s happened to your local authorities and scam alert organisations.
There are companies that might be able to help you recover your funds, but they usually only work with clients who’ve lost a large amount of cash.
Be careful when engaging one of these companies, as they can be run by scammers as well.
