Cryptocoinvesting is a fake platform that has been set up to con investors out of their cash in a classic pig butchering type fraud.
People are discovering the platform either via social media adverts, mainly on Facebook, or through direct messages through platforms such as WhatsApp.
Would-be investors who sign up are assigned a manager who talks them through the process of creating an account and transferring cash from their bank to a legitimate crypto exchange before moving it on to a wallet that they control.
Once this is done, the money is effectively lost, although the victim’s account will show their balance along with fake profits that are apparently accumulating there.
However, when the victim tries to withdraw their money they’re told they must pay a fee or tax to secure their cash.
This is all part of the scam and designed to extract even more money from victims.
There are many telltale signs that Cryptocoinvesting is scam. They include:
- The site was only registered recently despite claims about a long trading history.
- The profits on offer are way to high to be realistic – always a massive red flag when investing.
- The platform itself is very amateurish and the text contains many spelling and grammatical mistakes.
- There’s no information about the company, its team or its operating address.
- There are no official apps to go with the platform – something that legitimate sites have.
