Crypto Contact is a scam cryptocurrency exchange that attempts to trick people into investing by using branding from a legitimate crypto exchange.
The site’s logo is actually taken from crypto.com, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.
It’s been done to try to trick people into believing they’re visiting a genuine trading site, rather than a scam.
Victims are urged to deposit funds to initiate trading and are shown profits almost immediately.
But if they try to withdraw their money, they find they’re unable to do so. The scammers will then ask for huge fees, taxes or commissions to release the funds.
Any further money that’s sent will be stolen along with the original deposit.
How to spot the Crypto Contact scam
There’s a lot wrong with this platform, aside from the stolen logo.
- There’s no internal content detailing the history of the site or the team behind it.
- There are no social media channels or apps connected with the platform.
- All links redirect to a sign-up page.
- Logos from legitimate companies are there purely to enhance the scam. They are not partnered with the site in any way.
- The domain name is only a couple of months old.
- The few paragraphs of text that do exist are grammatically incorrect.
- A mock-up graphic of the trading app (which doesn’t exist) features a completely different company name.
This is highly unlikely, but there are things you should do, such as contact the police in your country. Keep your expectations low though.
However, there are private companies that might be able to help which I’ve written about here.
