Coppercrypto is a scam crypto trading platform that has ripped off the name and logo from the legitimate digital asset infrastructure company of a very similar name.
The design of the fake site, which brands itself as ‘The most trusted trading platform’ is reasonably profession and looks better than many other scam crypto platforms out there.
It features high quality graphics and a layout that could potentially convince an unsuspecting visitor that it’s a legitimate Bitcoin trading site.
But scratch beneath the surface and you’ll soon discover that it’s nothing more than an empty shell designed to lure in would-be investors with the promise of huge profits.
The person who contacted me about this scam gave this account of what had happened:
“I fell victim of the new scam – called “pig butchering”. I knew a girl on Twitter, she identifies herself as Li Megna or Nana, then we started to message in Telegram and she told me to download an app called: Copper INT, then she promise me huge returns and I deposited a lot of money into that app, around $43k USD.”
The victim has been locked out of their account and left unable to recover their funds.
The app in question was a direct download as an installable file, rather than an official product.
How to tell Copper Crypto is a scam platform
Despite the fact that this site is more professional looking, there are many things that give it away.
They include:
- Poor use of English and grammar throughout the site.
- Most of the links on the site don’t go anywhere.
- The links that do work trigger a sign-up page, even though they’re labelled as something else.
- Fake App Store/Apple Store links, which have also been mislabeled. No official apps exist.
- The links to alleged social media channels don’t work and no pages for the site exist.
- No information about the company, its location, or the team behind it.
- A domain name that’s only a few months old.
- Vague paragraphs of descriptive text that mean very little.
Do not deposit any crypto here, and if you’re approached by a stranger who befriends you then talks about the returns on offer at Copper Crypto, break off contact and block them.
Is it possible to get my crypto back from Coppercrypto?
It’s always worth reporting scams to the authorities in your region in case they are able to assist.
It may be that the scam you’re involved in is part of an operation that they’re tracking.
However, it’s often the case that the scammers are very difficult to trace and your funds may well have gone forever.
There are private companies that might be able to help you track down your missing cash or crypto that I’ve written about here.
