Bitemu claims to be a ‘leading cryptocurrency exchange’ but is in fact is nothing of the sort, rather a fake platform designed to scam unsuspecting users.
Some people are questioning whether Bitemu is a legit Bitcoin trading site and interest earning platform and rightly so, but there’s no doubt it’s designed to steal your funds.
I heard about Bitemu from someone in the US who wanted me to take a look at the platform to establish its credentials.
It was obvious within seconds that Bitemu is another in a long list of sites run by crypto scammers.
How to tell Bitemu is a scam site
The first thing you notice when you land on Bitemu’s homepage is the poor quality imagery which is heavily pixelated and badly designed.
This is an instant red flag as legitimate sites employ teams of designers to ensure their branding is professionally done.
The other things that give Bitemu away include:
- Very little content on the site.
- The content that does exist is mostly gibberish and probably scraped from other sites.
- Nothing to tell you who runs the platform or where it’s based.
- The supposed contact is a single Gmail address, without an individual name.
- The social media channel icons do not link anywhere, and the channels don’t exist.
- The domain is very new, yet the platform claims to have been running since 2018.
- Some pages further into the site are unfinished and also contain nonsense.
- The whitepaper link takes you to a document talking about EMUcoin and does not relate to the platform at all.
Can I get my money back from the Bitemu scam?
This is a tricky one as it’s very difficult to track the scammers down.
However, the authorities are making progress when it comes to tracing the scammers, and your bank might be able to help as well.
If you’ve been scammed, always report it. It might not help you, but it could prevent someone else getting scammed in the future.
